Norwich Sabbat is a live vampire roleplaying game based in the Classic (or One, as it’s now known) World of Darkness, as popularised by the video games Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines & Vampire: The Masquerade – Redemption, or by the awful tv show, Kindred the Embraced.
Set in Norwich, UK, the World of Darkness resembles the contemporary world, but it is darker, deadlier and more conspiratorial. Decadence, cynicism and corruption are common. Humans are unwitting victims or pawns of vast secret organizations of supernatural creatures.
Players take on the roles of vampires from any clan, time or place (Our current characters include a viking, a robotics student & a business mogul!), united within a global organisation called the Sabbat. The Sabbat are dedicated to fighting against ancient evils as they arise, including other vampires, werewolves & even Cthulhu!
A distinctive element of the Sabbat is the packs system, which sees you join a team of allies to fight “the foes no single superhero can withstand.” Each pack has its own identity & areas of expertise, as well as its own agendas…
As a live game, you act out your character for the duration of the event, with challenges resolved through the time-tested method of “rock-paper-scissors.” Games typically involve solving puzzles, investigating supernatural activity, interacting with NPCs & fighting monsters alongside your allies.
Games are held 7 times a year, and use a modified version of “Laws of the Night Revised”. No knowledge of the rules or setting is required – nor do you need any costume – simply turn up at a game & get involved!
